My roots are in Uttar Pradesh, I grew up in Pune, and I married into a family from Uttarakhand. Over the years, family and friends from many other states made my world a gathering of languages, festivals, foods, colours and customs.
For most of my life I worked in the corporate world. But something in me always leaned toward art and culture, toward the hands that make things and the stories that live inside them.
Then I moved to Sweden.
I settled into a new country and a new culture, and I found a quiet life I came to love. But I missed the vibrancy of India: the colours, the festivals, the sense that tradition is never far from your hands. So I started exploring Indian art in my free time, and the more I looked, the more I saw how little of it is known in modern India, leave aside Europe.
So I began Miovra. People said no one cares who is making it or where it comes from; it wouldn't work; it was too common, too boring a business. I listened, and then I followed my heart anyway. I strongly believe India's art forms deserve a wider audience, and the people who create them deserve more recognition and respect.
Everything at Miovra is made using simple, time-honoured methods, by artisans who learned their craft from the generations before them. Each piece carries their patience and care.
Our collection is small because it is carefully selected and curated with the artisans. We tell you how each piece was made, and we hope it brings a little warmth, colour and meaning to your home.
Welcome to Miovra. Crafted elegance, with heart.
